Daily location guessing game set in The Long Dark.

Recognize the quiet corners of Great Bear Island from in-game screenshots. TLD GUESSR is a free, fan-made geography game by henhau, inspired by GeoGuessr and built for players of The Long Dark.

How to play

  1. Start the daily expedition from the home screen. If it says “Coming soon”, expeditions are not open yet.
  2. Study the screenshot, open a region from the world map, and place your guess on its map. The region is hidden: use the scenery to find your bearings.
  3. Confirm your guess to reveal the answer and your score. Complete all five rounds to see your daily result, rating change, and standings.

Zoom and drag the map to place a precise guess. On a keyboard, Escape returns to the world map and Space confirms a placed guess.

Scoring & the daily expedition

Each round awards up to 5,000 location points. A correct-region guess earns at least 500 location points; closer guesses earn more. Time bonuses add 200 points for a guess within 10 seconds, or 50 within 30 seconds, regardless of accuracy. The maximum daily score is 26,000.

A new expedition starts at 03:00 UTC. Everyone gets the same five locations, with two Easy rounds, two Medium rounds, and one Hard round. There is one attempt per player each day, with no past-day replays.

Guests, accounts & ranks

You can play as a guest without signing up. Guest profiles keep scores, ratings, and streaks and appear on the leaderboard. Creating an account lets you transfer your guest progress and access it on another device. Keep your guest browser data until you have saved it to an account.

Your rating reflects performance over completed expeditions. The ranks progress from Pilgrim through Voyageur, Stalker, Interloper, and MISERY, each with four divisions. Fast total times break equal-score ties in daily standings.

Share a place you know

Submit a screenshot you took in The Long Dark, mark where the camera was standing, and suggest a difficulty. Submissions are reviewed before entering the game. Approved contributors receive a profile badge.
